The Þeistareykir Geothermal Topping Unit will be part of Þeistareykir Geothermal Station in northeast Iceland. The power station is owned and operated by Landsvirkjun, Iceland_s national power company and largest energy generator, operating 18 power stations across Iceland, generating electricity solely from 100% renewable sources: hydropower, geothermal and wind. Upon completion, the Topping Unit will reinforce Landsvirkjun_s commitment to the sustainable and efficient utilization of Iceland_s geothermal energy resources.
The Topping Unit will utilize high-pressure geothermal steam from production wells within the field. The Contract scope includes the design, manufacture, transportation, installation, and commissioning of one (1) geothermal back-pressure steam turbine-generator unit, auxiliary systems and spare parts including all associated works. The unit is designed for an inlet steam pressure of 27 bara and an exhaust pressure of 9.5 bara, handling 151.9 kg/s of steam under rated conditions. The Project Scope is more fully described within the Project Information Memorandum (PIM).
This Procurement is being undertaken in accordance with the Negotiated Procedure, as set out in Article 50 of Icelandic Regulation 340/2017 and Article 47 of the Utilities.
